Some usefull ( or not that usefull) Vocab you may need:
(Should be also some help to avoid you from getting you into really embarassing situations.)

1. to call somebody up = to ring somebody up ( so far so good)
BUT
to knock at the door IS NOT to knock somebody up
You can say: "Mike rang me up last night at 3.a.m." That's fine- it will work!
Actually it could get you in a very embarassing situation if you talk about : " Mike knocked me up last night at 3 a.m."
( knock sb up = getting pregnant)
